Golden Anniversary Weekend

In April 2008 St Philip & St James Church Drama Group celebrated it's 50th year with a special weekend. Nearly 200 current and former members of St Philip & St James Church Drama Group came together for the golden anniversary from 11-13 April looking back at many of the past shows.

Group leader Tim Conroy said “It was fantastic to have so many of the past members join us and recount how their time in the group brought many happy memories”.

The group was formed in April 1958 by Len Ollis and has produced around two shows each year varying from plays and revues to Gilbert & Sullivan and Christian musicals. The annual pantomime has been running since 1961 and is watched by around 1,000 people in its four day run.

Tim said “Over the years the people have changed but our core values of being open to the whole community, and people of all abailities has remained the same. We have averaged around 17 new members per year and welcome anyone who wants to get up on stage or willing to help behind the scenes.”
